Manuscript maps, ca. 1825-1832.

Four manuscript maps of New Harmony and Posey County, Ind. collected by historian Karl J.R. Arndt that show the transition of ownership from George Rapp's followers to those of Robert Owen. Map 1, ca. 1825, shows Harmonists' holdings and was probably delivered to Owen about the time of purchase. Map 2, ca. 1825, similar to the first, was probably made for Owen or Harmony Society records. Map 3, ca. 1828, shows areas of Posey County originally held by Harmonists. Many sections are labelled with English names showing that most German Harmonists had moved. Map 4, Oct. 31, 1832, is similar to the third, but is in greater detail.
